My big thing as a mom is that I want to make sure I take the time to play with Miles everyday. I try and read to him at least twice a day and any other chances I can get and we try to do a fun activity or just simply play.

Today was finger painting but with colored pudding. Miles is still at the age where he puts everything in his mouth so instead of doing paint or shaving cream we tried pudding. It actually worked out nice. Miles had a fun making squiggles and licking his fingers.

I am posting all three of these images, because this is just Miles. He pulls the cutest faces and each face is a different mood. yummy i could just eat him up, pudd'n and ALL!!

Mommys little helper

Miles is such a big boy he put the hangers in the book basket today while we were cleaning. Miles loves to help around the house. He helps me by helping with the vacuuming, sweeping, putting the dishes in and out of the dishwasher and putting his toys away when asked. I love my little helper!

Santa

We have been practicing with Miles who Santa is so he wouldn't scream when I put him on his lap. I have a little standing Santa that Miles is obsessed with now and will point at and say "santa" (really low). So when we went to go see the real Santa Miles smiled when he saw him. I told him, "look Miles its Santa," and he whispered back, "Santa!" When it was finally our turn Miles just sat there on Santa's lap like a good little boy-no expression what so ever. It was funny. We went to the Santa at Riverwoods because they allow you to take your own photography. The only draw back is that it is outside, but the lights make up for that. They had a spectacular display of lights. They also had fires and heaters all over so if you got too chilly you could warm up. Here are a few pictures of our night.

I forgot that i never posted these and they were too cute to not. Brady and his brother Troy put our lights up the first part of December. We decided to switch our pattern around from red, green, white to 3 red, 3 green, 3 white to give it more of a berry look. I love the LED lights, but they blend together too much if you have them like we had them. So lucky Miles and me got to change out the pattern. Oh boy was that fun. I really try to teach Miles and let him help as much as possible so I was showing him how to change out the lights and put in the new ones. Here are a few from our day.

Its pretty sad when Brady gets onto our blog and says, "wow you really need to update this." This past month has been pretty crazy on top of our already crazy lives.

Since my last post my sister got married.

Celebrated Thanksgiving twice in one evening. Surprised I lived to tell you that. I am not sure if I have ever eaten so much food at one time let alone pie'sssss, yes, pies'sssss! I had 5 freaking pieces of pie baby and they were OH SO good.

On a sadder note my sister in-law, Brady's sister past away a few days after Thanksgiving. We still can't believe that its real. It has been really hard on the family. Jaimmie was married to Jon and had a daughter Brittnay. I can't even imagine the pain they are feeling. During all this it made me realize how we take our lives for granted. You NEVER know when your last day will be. I want to hit myself every time I think about Thanksgiving. Jammie was there and I was so busy eating my pies I never really got to talk to her, thinking oh well i will see her next time. NEVER think this. Hug and kiss your loved ones everyday. I had my camera thanksgiving and I WISH so bad I would have done everyones pictures. PLEASE keep family photos up to date AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR!! You just never know. Jammie was one of the sweetest most kind person I have ever met. I am so grateful Heavenly Father put Jammie in my life for me to learn from her. We will never forget you and keep on loving you!!!

Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin carving was so fun this year. Once Miles saw the pumpkin goop after we cut the top off he smiled and wanted to touch it. He is good about touching things you can tell he wants to touch it but is unsure so he looks at you and then what he wants to touch and will wait for you to say its ok. After we cleaned out the pumpkin guts he decided he wanted to put them all back in--it made me laugh. Miles liked taking the top off and putting things in and out of it. I have some really cute videos of him but am not sure how to get them off my phone-so until then....

Halloween Night

We went trick or treating at Grandma Connies house and hit the jack pot! Miles has more candy than we can eat. He LOVED pushing the doorbell and getting a treat. At first he was not sure what he was supposed to do when they put the bowl out for him to grab. We showed him and by the 3rd house he was a pro. Once grabbing the candy he got the BIGGEST grin you have ever seen! For the first part he was good and dropped the candy in his bucket but later on he wanted to hold them all in his mouth and hands. Miles does this funny clicking when he wants to eat or drink something so he did that every time he wanted a bite of his candy. Afterwards, Brady turned to me and said "I don't think I have ever enjoyed trick or treating like it did tonight." It was a good night.

This was my first assignment. We had to take our image with colored film and then scan it. This project was very scary for me because I prefer not to work with film. I like to see what I am doing 24/7. I like control not not knowing if I "got it" or not. This project confused me too because I didn't see the purpose in it since its a photoshop class. Hello, I have taken all my film classes and am ready to move on to digital.

After everything was said and done I actually liked the assignment and was glad I got to work with film again. Being able to bring film into the digital world was really exciting.

First off I just want to tell you that I am learning SO much in the photo program. I am taking a photoshop class right now and am soaking it all in. One of our assignments was to photograph someone that is very important our lives.

My dad is one of the greatest guys on earth. He is funny and smart. He is the very best house painter you will EVER come across. We are alike in more ways than I would have ever imagined. Its funny when I was a kid I swore I would never be like my parents and now being one I only hope to be just like them.

all summer i've been wanting to take miles to feed the ducks and today i finally made it happen. we went to a near by pond that was swarming with ducks. miles LOVES rubber duckies so i thought for sure he would love the real deal. i was right as soon as he spotted one he started making his duck sound.

he wanted to pet & feed this duck.

Proud Wife

Brady and I have been together for over 10 years now, married for 7of those years. I am just in love with him now as much if not more then when we were dating. He is an great husband and an amazing father. Yesterday he took a final that would determine if he could start his program this fall or not. The class he was taking was a online STATs class that he has taken before, but was 1% off from getting the grade he needed for the program. He only had 3weeks to finsh this class to get it done in time. Lets just say this month has been very stressfull for all of us especailly for Brady. He has sacraficed so much to do this and I am SO proud of him.

first time today miles pulled himself all the way up with NO help. it was so funny getting him out of his crib this afternoon to find him just standing there with the biggest grin thinking, "mom, look what i can do!"

miles is obsessed with wheels. we went downstairs to my studio to get some practice shots for his b-day card and as soon as he spotted the tricycle there was NO hope in getting anymore pictures unless the tricycle was in them. its much harder to be the mom and the photographer when they can crawl and move.

miles is also very in love with rubber duckies. he get so excited when we sees one and squeezes it SO hard when he finally gets his hands on it.

its still not hitting me that my baby will be one in a couple weeks. when you are preggo you don't think about your baby getting so big and turning one. why can't they stay baby for a bit longer....

Pet Shop

I took Miles to the pet shop yesterday and you would have thought he died and gone to heaven. This pet shop had guineapigs when you first walked in. He loved watching them move and drink from their water dish. Then we stopped by the birds, he loved them whistling to him. I whistled to the birds and they whistled back. Miles looked at me and then the birds then back at me with the biggest grin. Then we moved on to the hamsters. He was mesmerized by the movement of these little guys. There were two that were fighting to run on the wheel. They were darling with their little cheeks stuffed with food. After standing there for awhile I started walking away towards the dogs. Miles reached all the way around and started to cry because he wanted to look at the hampsters longer. It was hilarious. All those who know Miles know he is very easy going and never cries, but he did for the hamsters. After watching the hamsters for 15 more min we finally got to the puppies and he started making his puppy sound which is "Ba" ("ba" then whispers-- is everything). I was so happy because the puppies were so playful. As we left the store Miles started crying again.

"Its okay baby we will come back when daddy can come so he can see the animals too"

i have an adorable video of Miles playing with this plane, but for some reason can't get it to play. dang technology.

Its hard to believe almost a year has gone by. I remember this time last year being so fat & SO ready to be done. I remember thinking it will be any day now-thinking I would go early because I worked out everyday. Little did I know I would have this little guy in my tummy for a whole month longer. It was a good thing though, because he is the most perfect ever and know he got that way by staying put for a little longer. Now a year later he is 11months old and seriously the funniest kid ever. He still always has a smile, drinks from a big cup-NOT A SIPPY (hate those things), Eats at the table and eats what we are having, crawls everywhere, he used to be afraid of the vacuum now he follows me, he LOVES wheels, he makes a "vroom" sound when pushing a car, shreds paper-- my shopping lists & t.p., takes toys from the dogs and feeds them food, twirls his hands and feet when he gets excited, loves to jump and go upside down, and the list goes on.

Happy 11 months old baby.

Four-Wheeling

July 16th we celebrated my brothers 25th birthday by going four-wheeling. Unfortunately Brady was not able to come because of all the studying he is doing, but we tried not to have too much fun with out him. Miles was scared by the noise of the four-wheeler at first but got used to it. It was so nice to have a day off of photos and cleaning. Wish there were more of those kind of days.

This month Miles is saying ma when I am near and ba (bottle or baa baa black sheep-not sure) and lots of other baby jabber. He is into everything and has to touch everything in the stores and SMILE at everyone. He loves people and to dance (music or no music). He circles the rooms multiple time by rolling and scooting. He is up on all fours and feel like this week will be the week he goes forward. I am treasuring every moment we have together though and pray that time will PLEASE SLOW DOWN.

I have been super busy putting the final touches on my studio and trying to stay afloat with photography. Brady has been working his butt off for school and continues to do so. We are also working on finishing our basement. We have the sheet rockers coming in a couples weeks-can't wait!

I have a picture of me when I was Miles age with my mom at this water fountain.

Miles liked the monkeys but he LOVED the bird show. He liked seeing the birds swoop down. He also liked it because his uncle Troy got be part of it. Before the show a women named Kris (Krissi) came up to Troy and asked if he would go along with the idea of her being his fiance for the show. He was down with it so she sat with us and we all watched the show together until there is this one part where the bird guy asks if there are any couples getting married this fall. They planned they were going to get married this fall so they raised their hands. Then he asked them to come to the stage to take some pictures of some doves that they would use for "their" wedding and here is what happened.......

Haha!! We had seen this show before, but it was so fun to see Troy be a part of it. Kris went in the back to change and came out in her uniform so everyone knew then that it was all part of the show!! After the show this little boy came up to Troy and asked if he lied! No kid its called acting!! :) it made me giggle

Fourth of July

What a wonderful celebration.

We started our day at the balloon fest. When they had most of the balloons half way up if not all the way up a gush of wind blew them all over. It was kind of funny because we were standing behind one of the balloons when it took off forward and ended up pulling a guy behind it on a rope. Then there was a balloon to the side of us which we had to run away from to avoid it landing on us. I've never seen so many people run so fast. Not going to lie- I kind of giggled when people where tripping and falling over chairs to get out of the way.

kind of bummed though because after the wind they decided to put them all down so we did not get to see them take off.

Poor Darth Vader I will have to wait and see you next year.

Then we went to the parade. Miles LOVES the parades, especially the parts with the music. He loves to dance.

Then we came home for a afternoon nap

Then that evening we went to the park for a BBQ and watch fireworks at my house.

these villages amazed me. look at the detail they put into building these walls. the rock oh so very carefully shaped into rectangles and then decorative ones along the side. you can tell they took pride in their work.

do you just love these shoes I pick up at DI just for camping. I hated him wearing them because it made him look so big.

Mommy I can Dance

While watching "So You Think You can dance" last night Miles looked back at me when the first dancer came on so I start moving my body to the music to promote him to dance. He then looked back at the tv and started moving side to side and then his head from side to side. He looked back at me again to see that I was still moving and smiles at me then turns back to the tv to dance again. It was the cutest thing ever.

His other new thing is to wave and he cut his first tooth last Thursday. He rubs his tongue over it 24/7. We also went to Mesa Verde last weekend so I will be posting pictures soon.

Pool time

Got a pool and set it up for the first time today. Miles had a hay day splashing the water all around. I am really excited for this summer now. There is nothing like hanging out with your baby in a pool soaking up the sun (me, not Miles, his skin will be lathered in spf50 multiple times). This guys makes me smile every min.

miles was pretty proud of himself for being able to peek out the side to look at the workers building a house.

Brady has been working his butt off to get a math class done so he can proceed with the nursing program. Because of this our 7year anniversary kind of got put on the back-burner. Thankfully it was my hometowns city days so we (Miles and I) enjoyed ourselves at the parade and carni.

I can't believe 9months have gone by already. Just think I could have had another baby by now....eek! No thank you, not the baby part, but the preggo part. Miles is seriously one of the happiest babies I know and plays a very special part in our family. Its hard to imagine life before he came to this earth. He always has a smile and only cries if its past his bedtime or needs a snack.

Miles can say "boo", "mum", & "dada"and lots of other baby talk. Eats what mom and dad are eating, which he loves. No crawling yet, but he is getting there. No teeth-thank heavens. Loves books and to play with his puppies. Miles is learning to be "soft" with earrings and puppies. Surprisingly he does real well with this. He loves his graham crackers and trix cereal most. He loves people and gets sad when people leave the room. He loves to be sung to, go upside down and dance. Everything goes in his mouth and gets twisted inside (like driving a car). Loves to take the sacrament at church and blow bubbles in the cup. He is active and likes to go through bags that are lying around. Brady and I are having so much fun being a mommy and daddy.

Saturday we put the final coat of paint on and got ready to lay the wood flooring. Miles was helped by pulling the tape off that daddy worked so hard on.

This floor almost ended our almost 7year marriage. Thank heavens our neighbor came over to help just in the nick of time.

Wow, this month has been so crazy for us. We are finishing my studio and are SO close, but are waiting on the floor still....I am so indecisive. Miles is getting so big. We will see the doctor next month for his 9mo check. His new thing is to sway not only front and back, but side to side when sitting down. He says ma, but not intentionally, but he can say it (or so i like to think so)!! He likes to look at the world with all angles. like so....

Brady is starting school back up and I am trying to stay afloat with my photo sessions. (I had 15 in the last 12 days!!!) Yikes!! Like I said, CRAZY!!

Happy 1st Mothers Day

Brady made me breakfast in bed; french toast and hash-browns-yum! And I got a cute card that Miles can't take his eyes off. Its has a cat on it with pop up hearts-hehe he loves pop ups. And 6 delicious cupcakes from the sweet tooth fairy--double yum! Then in church today they gave all the mothers flowers :) Then enjoyed the rest of the day with the people I love most.....my family

when Brady went to get Miles out of bed this is what he found our little guy up too.

Brady said he heard him chattering and then a little cry. I think he got stuck and didn't know how to get out of the bumper. Haha....i can't stop laughing when i see this. Easter Morning

All ready for egg hunting

Mommy: Easter was so fun this year. Miles is at such a fun age right now. Easter morning he woke up at 9:30am and talked for almost an hour until we (I) couldn't wait any longer. I was so excited to be or I mean help the Easter bunny this year. When we walked into Miles room he gave us both the biggest grin and told us everything he was doing or dreamt about-not sure. Then we showed him his basket and he just screamed and giggled. Then he started chewing on his basket (i have it on video, but no pictures). Then at church he was so funny, interested in everything and everyone. We gave him a sip of a sacrament cup and he started gurgling bubbles in it, haha talk about keeping the spirit :). It was hilarious.

All day was like that. Miles is a really good and happy baby, but on Easter he was hyper or something-I felt like he could tell it was a different and special day.

Then later that evening we went to Grandma Curtis's house for dinner and a Easter egg hunt that Mile's slept through. Dang it.

I can't wait to see what next year will bring.

Man o man where do i begin??

went to wal-mart and had a grandma lady ask if my son, who was wearing a dinosaur shirt was a boy or a girl? seriously?

then crazy lady stocking me, saying she was going to take my baby when i wasn't looking. Scary!

finally exchanged my crap and got to my car and my keys were missing-scary lady really was going to take my baby. retraced my steps, said a prayer and went to the customer service.............

Oh thank heaven for honest people-someone returned my keys

then got home and feed Miles and the darling sprayed food all over and then gives me the biggest grin and all is lost.

I love you Miles, thanks for putting up with your looney mom and making my day all better.

Yes I know "Kristina in a book club," I guess I am cool like that. No I am totally kidding- I am not cool like that, I have never been a fan of reading "for fun," but now having a baby has given me some extra time for such activities. I may not be fast but am actually enjoying it.

So anyway not only am I in a book club, but I hosted our last party. Don't worry I was seriously on page 48 when guests arrived yesterday, but Amy saved the day by doing questions for me and I saved our tummies by providing these yummy "sweet 16" cupcakes to go along with the theme of the Uglies turning pretty when they are 16.

So tax return came and it looks like we are going to be able to finish our basement-SCORE!! We are planning on doing it ourself and am wondering if there are experts that you might know that can do plumbing and maybe help or do our sheet rock.

I am also wanting to landscape our backyard and add some trees in the front. Does anyone know where I can get good deals on plants and trees?

Miles has mastered sitting up and is inches away from taking off crawling or scooting. We practice everyday. Just this week Miles coos have turned into a babble that go on and on. He is so much more interested in his toys and books and wants to touch EVERYTHING. The doctor says he has a very mild flatness to his head and is debating to do a helmet or not. Does anyone have any input? It just frustrates me because of all my friends I am the one who was religious about tummy time--gurr!!

My baby is almost 6months old and it is so hard to believe that that much time has gone by. I love Miles so much and the more time I get to spend time with him I love him even more. I shot a newborn session the other day and almost died to think my baby was once that small. They say enjoy it while you can because it goes by way to fast. I have to agree with this statement. I love and treasure every moment I have to be with my little angel.

It breaks my heart to know there are little babies out there that are not wanted or loved for. If I had a million dollars and a little more sanity I would adopt them all or make a shelter for them. I know babies are hard, but they are the sweetest little things God could ever bless us with and I am so grateful he has given me the opportunity to be a mommy. It is the number #1 best job in the whole world, even if you have to clean up after this little monkey.

Moments like this make it all that more fun!

Man o man, does my little man have my mouth. He just babbles and babbles. I walked in on him chatting to Zoie and then yesterday I had him in my knee crevasse and he started talking to my other leg. It was so funny. He is so into everything now. I used to be able to work with him in my lap on my computer, but now he reaches for the keys or papers that i have out. My little busy body and I am afraid this is just the beginning. We have been working on sitting up and have a feeling it won't be long...

Other things that have been happening

-Valentines day my sister hit my car-yuck!
-Brady took his last test for calculus and is studying for the final
-Ran 6miles on Sunday (this was the first time running since being 8mo preggo, man it was nice not to have to stop every two seconds to pee)

Miles ate squash for the first time today and loved it. He ate the WHOLE jar!! Every stage has been so fun and different. We finally got a Bumbo chair and feed him in it and for some reason today he kept leaning his head back. I guess he wants to see the world upside down. It was just so silly and cute and pretty sure the first time I have ever seen his neck! But of course by the time I pulled my camera out he stopped. You would think with all the pictures I have taken of him he would be used to the camera, but I don't think he likes that he can't see me. He always gets this concerned face :)

Anyway.....isn't he to die for?!

Brady and I went on a HOT date Saturday evening to celebrate Valentines Day. We had a fabulous time just the two of us. I didn't realize how long it had been since we have been alone together since Miles arrived. So note to self go on a "HOT" date with my "HOT" hubby at least once a month. I think it makes it more fun when you have something to look forward too.

-Miles thankfully only got a minor cough which i rubbed vapor rub on his feet at night and seriously it was gone the next day.

-joined a book club- me a book club i know....

but i am super excited. with me pumping 2-3x a day for 20min that gives me at least 20-60 min to read.

Brady had to work so Miles got to be my first 2011 kiss of the year. He usually isn't up around mid-night, but i guess he didn't want to miss out on anything.

frustrated and need to vent

I get to work today totally rushed realizing i didn't even have to be there for another hour. Then when it was time to pump I realized i forgot my pump-ouch! and the worse thing about today was the manager of our building came up to me and asked if i would do him a favor.

let me back up:

since i've been back to work i have been taking 1-2 breaks to pump in the bathrooms-gross, i know, but you got to do what you got to do. So i have been taking a chair in there to have something to sit on (the toilets in the bathrooms don't have lids). Well, here and there I will leave the chair in there becasue it is such a pain in the butt to get it in and out with my pump, water, book and the occasional heels. Apparently someone has complained about this because he asked that i take the chair out every time i use it. ugh.

Now i know where he is coming from, i am sure the cleaning people are the ones that are complaining, but seriously give a mother some sympathy. now i know all i have to do it take the chair out, but i guess I am super sensitive about the whole thing. It is so hard to breast feed and such a sacrifice and that one little thing just rubbed me the wrong way and really hurt my feelings.

so the venting begins....

why is it not a law that big building have to have a mothers lounge for employees and customers? Breastfeeding is looked down on because moms "just whip it out", but if we had a place to do it maybe we would see less boobies. am i right? I hate that i have to make my babies food in the bathroom where people do "their business." I have had to time my pumping right or if i wait to long before lunch i can't even go in there because it reeks so bad. Now i know a bathroom is a bathroom and that is what we are supposed to do in them, but where is a mother supposed to go and pump or feed her child???

GURR!

and another thing why are ALL shopping carts different sizes? some fit a car seat and some are so tiny you can't even put your purse in. and same with parking stalls. these are just things i have noticed since having a baby. No wonder in the past i would come to my car and have dings in it from someone else's car seat. There's NO room between the cars to get it in and out.

ahhhh......ok thanks i feel better.

now i will try and get over all of this and move on......

I can't believe how time has flown and how much Miles has grown. He is cooing none stop, he will lay on his play mat and talk to his little animals that are above. He giggles which is a heart melter and he does this new squealing hick up thing-random, but SO cute! New just the last two days he will scoot himself around his play mat by swinging his legs forward. it caught me off guard the first time because i put him down and started to clean and a few min later he made a cute sound so i looked up at him and he was in a diff. spot than i put him. then watching him i figured what he was doing. it just makes me smile.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving we got our family pictures done in 12 degree weather. Poor Miles didn't know what to do. We were only out for 10 mins. So I am pretty happy we got what we did get for being 10 min. worth. Thanks Jo for taking them for us. I tried doing them myself with the tripod awhile back--not so good. I think i just know what i want to much and can't do the angles i want with the tripod in the time frame Brady wants to be done :)

1-ran into people/stuff in stores because i can't see over the car seat on the cart

3-went to wipe his bum and forgot to replace the wipes in his diaper bag-opps

4-been peed on a million times

licked a binky that has fallen on the ground-swore i would never do this.

5-wipe boogers on my pants-again swore i would never do.

Miles had his 2month check up yesterday. He was so brave and got all of his shots. At age 8.5wks old he can coo, lift his head-like so, bat at objects, smile like no other and roll from his tummy to back. He is sleeping through the night still and is eating 4 to 4.5 ounces. He weighs 10.5lbs and is 22inches long. He is one healthy and happy baby!

Miles first halloween.

I tell you it is very hard to find a costume small enough for a newborn and thats not gay looking. I did finally find this adorable skeleton costume at babies "R" us, but again the smallest they had was a 6-9month. So we got it anyway and made it work by rolling the sleeves and pant legs up a couple times...can't even tell, right. :)

ps-miles hated his nose being painted. Later that night he grabbed his nose and pulled all the paint off.

Yes i know we are so lame for not dressing up. but this year was so wierd having halloween celbrated either Fri, Sat and/or Sunday. I really wanted to be Olive and Popeye, but Brady didn't want to do that----again SO LAME. Maybe next year :)

If 7wks during pregnancy would have gone this fast I don't think I would have mind it so much, but I tell you I do mind time now. It is going way to fast now that Miles is here. 7wks!! Wow! Where has the time gone. He is getting so strong. I mean look at him he is totally holding his head and upper body up here. He is swatting at things now and will watch us more and more intuitively.

I am back at work now and am doing better and better with the idea of it all. Thankfully I am only part-time, but I still hate leaving him. I never thought I would enjoy motherhood like I do. I never understood it, but I guess you can't unless you experience it yourself. Brady is having a lot of fun being a daddy too. He has been watching him while I am at work and the other day when I got home I asked him how it has been going and he turns to me and says, "it is a lot of work." It made me laugh.
